Just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning February 9, Deputy Sponhouse attempted to initiate a traffic stop east of Glasgow on Burkesville Road on a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, after noticing the vehicle had no working break lights. However, the driver, 29-year-old Joshua U. Lessenberry of Edmonton began to flee at which time a pursuit ensued for several miles until finally coming to a stop when Lessenberry slammed on his brakes causing Deputy Sponhouse’s cruiser to strike his vehicle.

That brought the pursuit to an end on Genie Franklin Road, where Lessenberry and his two passengers, 26-year-old Kristina E. Flannery and 32-year-old Alicia S. Byrd both of Glasgow, were all taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle by law enforcement officers, netted the finding of two shake and bake meth labs along with chemicals and equipment used in the making of meth, some of which included tubing, drain cleaner, rock salt and other items of paraphernalia.

Joshua U. Lessenberry is charged with, no brake lights, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a meth precursor first offense, manufacturing methamphetamine first offense and first-degree criminal mischief. Lessenberry was also served an outstanding Barren County arrest warrant for first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia and persistent felony offender.

Kristina E. Flannery is charged with resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a meth precursor first offense and manufacturing methamphetamine first offense.

Alicia S. Byrd is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a meth precursor first offense and manufacturing methamphetamine first offense.

All three subjects were lodged in the Barren County Correctional Center.

Deputy Sponhouse was assisted in the pursuit and investigation by Deputy Greg Kinslow and Haz-Mat Coordinator Shannon White.
