ALCOHOL BELIEVED TO BE FACTOR IN FATAL COLLISION IN METCALFE COUNTY PDF Print

Trooper Daniel Stephens is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Monday 1/24/11 at approximately 11:41 P.M. in Metcalfe County.  Duane C. Thompson, age 48 of Edmonton, was operating a 2002 Ford two door, traveling north on Breeding Road approximately seven miles north of Edmonton.

Thompson lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, struck a tree line, overturned multiple times before coming to rest off the roadway.  A passenger in the vehicle Sara Coates, age 25 of Edmonton, was not belted and was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene by Metcalfe County Coroner Larry Wilson.

Thompson, who also was not belted, was partially ejected and transported to T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision which is continuing to be investigated.  Trooper Stephens was assisted at the scene by KSP Sergeant Greg Brown, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Metcalfe County Fire and Rescue and the Metcalfe County Coroner’s office.
