Registration for Adult Softball Registration is ongoing at the Glasgow Parks and Registration Department. The leagues being offered are Men’s, Co-ed, and Church.  League play will begin June 1. This year the leagues will be sanctioned by ASA Softball.The American Red Cross will have a blood drive, today from 1PM to 5PM at Glasgow First United Methodist Church.

There will be a QuickBooks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 28, 30, May 5, 7, 12, 14 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at Barren County High School. The cost is $75 and instructor is Debbie Russell. The Barren County Board of Elections will meet; this Tuesday, April 28 at 9AM in the Barren County Clerk’s Office for the regular monthly meeting and after that meeting will go to the County Road Department to test the Automatic Tabulation Equipment.

Barren County High School 2015-2016 SBDM committees parent elections will be this Tuesday, April 28 from 7AM to 4PM. Parents must vote in person by picking up ballots at the high school or Trojan Academy.

The Barren County High School SBDM Council will have a specially called meeting, this Friday, May 1 at 5PM and Monday, May 4 at 3:15PM in the Commonwealth Plaza building 1st floor to discuss principal selection.

The 10th Annual John Swack 4-H Golf Scramble will be Thursday, May 7 at 10AM at the Cave Valley Golf Course at Park Mammoth Resort. The entry fee is $50 per person and includes lunch, snacks and door prizes. Prizes will be given for longest drive, closest to the pin and hole in one. The 1st place team will receive a $500 cash prize, 2nd place $300, and 3rd place $150. All proceeds will benefit 4-H Gold Honor recipients  toward college scholarships.

Hiseville Christian Church will have a big Country Breakfast,  Saturday, May 2 from 7AM to 10:30AM. Menu consists of County Ham, Sausage, Bacon, Gravy, Biscuits, Eggs, Hash-Browns, Sliced Tomatoes, Coffee, Milk, Juice and enough Red-Eyed Gravy to float a bass boat.  All proceeds will benefit The Galilean Children’s Home.  For more information call Jim Rich at 590-5569.

Hanging of the Baskets on the square in downtown Glasgow will be Tuesday, May 5 at the gazebo.  This year there will be 34 hanging baskets around the square this summer.

The Barren River Welfare Association will hold their annual Bake Sale and Adoption Event on Saturday, May 9 at 8AM at the food entrance of the Glasgow Wal-Mart.  BRAWA always has a great variety of baked goods from cakes, pies, breads and homemade treats for the four-legged family members. There will be a Community Yard Sale and Car Wash, Saturday, May 9 from 8AM to 1PM at the Center United Methodist Church. Proceeds will benefit Community Outreach-Youth Groups.  Cancelled if raining.

Metcalfe County Relay for Life Committee and teams are hosting a Celebrity Barbeque cook off. The event will be Saturday May 16 from 5PM to 7PM and will be held in the Leftwich Hall at Bowling Park. This will be an excellent way to support Relay for Life and show off your Barbeque skills. The event will be open to the public to participate in the tasting. Tickets are $5.00 and this lets you sample all that you want and gives a ticket to vote for their favorite. There will also be a cake auction following the tasting. A Maternity, Baby and Kids Expo will be Sunday, May 17 from 12PM to 4PM at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green. Vendors will be set up ranging from kids attire, healthcare, kids activities, newest baby products, food, spas and much more.  Admission is $5.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the MS Society.

There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Thursday of each month at the Bunch Center beginning at 5:30PM.  Everyone is invited. Volunteers are needed to plan new events for the festival.
