Barren County Sports League Sign-Ups will be held at Jackie Browning Park will continue through March 7. Boys ages are10 and under and 12 and under and girls softball ages are 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16-18 and under.

There will be a Friends of Glasgow Dog Park Meeting this Tuesday, January 27 at 5:30PM at the Fine Arts Bistro on the North Public Square.

Highland Kids Cub proudly presents Disney’s High School Musical, JR this Friday, January 30 at 7PM and this Sunday, February 1 at 2PM in the Highland Elementary Gym. Tickets are $5 and are on sale now at the school office. Prior to the presentation from 5 to 6:15pm you may purchase an “All American Meal” for $5 and 5th grade and under for $3.00.   This Leader in Me Fundraiser will be held in the school café.

Community Education of Glasgow/Barren County will offer a class beginning Monday, February 2, Painting Just for Kids, through February 23. The class will meet at the First Presbyterian Church from 3 to 4:30pm.  The class is for ages 6 to 12.  Patty Hughes is the instructor and the cost is $30. Have you ever wanted to learn how to make mile high meringue lathered on a delicious cream filling?   If so, a Pie Making Class will be Saturday, February 7 from 9AM to 12PM. The instructor is Linda Berry and the cost is $20. Pre-registration is required by calling Marcus Kingrey at 670-6908 or email marcus.kingrey@barren,kyschools.us.

The 3rd annual Daddy-Daughter Dance will be Saturday, February 7 from 5PM to 8PM at the Barren County Trojan Academy Gym. Daddies and daughters, granddaddies and granddaughters or uncles and nieces are invited to attend. Tickets are $10 a couple. Glasgow City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 16 in observance of President’s Day.  Monday’s garbage will be picked up on Tuesday, February 17.  Glasgow Landfill will be closed all day and there will be no city bus service.

The T.J. Samson Hospice Program will be offering free Hospice Volunteer training on Tuesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 19 from 5PM to 7:30PM.  The classes will be held in the Home Health building at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.  The T.J. Samson Hospice Program is designed to provide comfort, counseling and support to a patient and their family with life-limiting illnesses.  Hospice is individualized care that affirms life and regards dying as a natural process that should be neither hastened nor prolonged and that can be met with richness of spirit. A benefit auction and Chili Supper for Jerry McClellan will be held at Eastern Elementary School on Saturday, February 21. Arthur Hatfield and Buckcreek Band will play from 5 to 6pm and the auction will begin at 6pm. Jerry was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and all proceeds will go toward medical expenses. There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Friday at the Bunch Center beginning at 6:30PM. Everyone is invited. Anyone interested in being of the Global Fest Committee is encouraged to attend.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association is actively seeking interested individuals to become high school softball official in the surrounding area. To be part f the action, any individual who is a high school graduate or 18 years of age or older is encouraged to contact Mark Woodcock at 270-646-8994.

Metcalfe County Community Education invites you to join their free Walking Warriors- Community Walking Club now through April from 10 to 11:30am Monday through Friday at the M C High School Gym.
