The Glasgow Garden Club needs sponsors for the 2015 Hanging Basket project for downtown Glasgow. The cost is $325, which includes the hardware for the lamp post, the baskets and all maintenance from May through September. For more information call Ruby Cockerham at 270-629-3007.

The Haunted Shop of Terror at the traffic light in Park City will be open every Friday and Saturday night through November 1 starting at dark. The cost will be $5 per person. All proceeds go to the Billa Boys Fund. The fund will help pay for firefighter Chris Billa’s funeral and go towards the scholarship fund set up in his memory to put EMTs, paramedics and firefighters through school.

Dr. Craig Tyree and staff of the Barren River Regional Cancer Center 4th Annual Trunk or Treat will be tonight from 5PM to 7PM. This year's theme for the event is Disney! Come see your favorite Disney characters! For more information please call 270/651-2478.

Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention will have a Pancake Breakfast, this Saturday, November 1 from 7:30AM to 9:30AM at Applebee’s in Glasgow. Tickets are $5 and there will be door prizes given away. For more information or to purchase tickets call Marilyn at 270-590-0276.

Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry and Auction will be this Saturday, November 1. The Fish Fry will begin at 4PM and Auction at 7PM. Fish plates will be $8, Sandwiches $4 and a children’s plate will be $4. Proceeds will be used for much needed equipment.

Glasgow Athletic Program Basketball League for 3rd thru 4th and 5th thru 6th grades registration will be Tuesday, November 4 and Thursday, November 6 from 6:15PM to 7:30PM at the at the Hero Center; Saturday, November 1 from 10AM to 3PM at GMS football games and Saturday, November 8 from 9AM to 2PM at Glasgow Middle School. Registration cost is $45 and all games and practices will be at the Hero Center. Volunteers are needed.

Glasgow Parks and Recreation presents the 36th Annual Turkey Trot Costume Fun Run this Sunday, November 2 at the Beaver Creek Park.  The Gobble Gait, which is a ½ mile run for kids seven and  under will begin at 2pm; one mile run begins at 2:30pm and the 5K Run Costume Fun Run begins at 3pm. Pre-register by October 24 and pay $20 for the one mile run and the 5 K run or pay $25 day of the race.  Bring a canned good to be donated to Community Relief and be entered into a raffle for door prizes.  For more information call 651-3811 or 651-9012.

WKU Homecoming Week Annual Chili and Cheese Luncheon and Pep Rally will be Monday, November 3 from 11AM to 1PM at South Central Bank Operations Center. Tickets will be $5 and are available at the door. Tickets will include a bowl of Wendy’s chili, grilled cheese, soft drink and dessert. All proceeds benefit Junior Achievement.

There will be a Caverna High School Advisory Council Meeting, Monday, November 3 in the high school library.

There Metcalfe County Community Education will have a Beginners Welding Class on Monday, November 3 and continuing on Mondays through November 24 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at the Metcalfe County High School Workshop. Glasgow Annual Election Day Luncheon will Tuesday, November 4 from 11AM to 1PM at the First Presbyterian Church in the church fellowship hall. Tickets are $12 each and will be available from members of the congregation. The menu consists of Hot Chicken Salad, Copper Carrots, Fruit, Sister Schubert Rolls and a large variety of desserts and beverages. Freedom Warriors Community Veterans Organization will host a free movie at the Plaza Theatre, Thursday, November 6 at 7PM. The movie to be played is "Taking Chance" starring Kevin Bacon. We are asking for canned food items to be donated to a local food pantry.

Christmas Parade Applications are now available for pickup at the Chamber Office or you may download one at www.glasgowbarrenchamber.com.  The theme of the parade this year is “Paws for Christmas.” A $15 entry fee must be received by Friday, November 7. After that date the entry fee is $30 and must be received by November 14 at 4:30PM.

The Glasgow-Barren County Veterans Day Parade will be held on Saturday, November 8 at 2PM. The parade route will be beginning on Broadway, Crossing over East Main Street onto North Broadway, then turning left on East Front to West Front and then left on North Race and ending at the Wall of Honor on South Race. After the event at the Veteran’s Wall of Honor there will be a reception at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center.

North Jackson Elementary 6th Annual Fall Festival will be Saturday, November 8 from 4PM to 8PM. Admission will be $1 and tickets for games and activities are $0.25. There will BBQ, pizza, snow cones, cotton candy, games, prizes, inflatables, cake walks, photo booth, silent auctions at 4PM and live auction from 6PMto 7PM.

The Bobby Driver Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc will present The Songs of Disney, Saturday, November 8 at 7PM at the Historical Plaza Theatre. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.plaza.org or by calling 270-361-2101. All Proceeds go directly to our scholarship fund for 2015.

A huge Cancer Benefit will be held for Cindy England sister of Terry England on Saturday, November 8 at the Caverna Elementary School Gym. Activities include a cake walk, indoor yard sale and UCW Wrestling bell time is 8pm with meet and greet at 6pm.  There will also be home made goodies and baked goods, Barbecue Sandwiches and Chili Plate Lunches and drawing for door prizes. A benefit gospel singing will be held for Nancy and Ricky McGuire at the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Etoile on Saturday, November 8 at 6PM to help with medical expenses. Glasgow City Hall will be closed Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Glasgow Street and Sanitation will also be closed Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Tuesday’s garbage and recycling will be collected on Wednesday. Please have it out by 7AM.

Glasgow Landfill will be closed Tuesday, November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day.

"Driving Miss Daisy" will be presented by the Far Off Broadway Players at the Plaza Theatre Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 at 7PM and Sunday, November 16 at 2PM.  Contact the Plaza for reservations.

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box will be excepting shoe boxes Monday, November 17 thru Saturday, November 23 from 8AM to 8PM at Hardyville Union Church. Fill a shoe box with hygiene items, toys, clothes and or school supplies to be taken to very needy children. For more information call Peggy at 270-528-3698.

The 6th Annual Volunteer meetings are scheduled Sunday, November 23 at the Bunche Center in Glasgow. Mandatory attendance is required for at least one meeting.

There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Friday at the Bunch Center beginning at 6:30PM. Everyone is invited. Anyone interested in being of the Global Fest Committee is encouraged to attend.

The 2014 Cave City Christmas Parade, “A Storybook Christmas” will be Saturday, December 13 at 4PM at the Cave City Convention Center. Applications are available at the Cave City Chamber of Commerce; entry deadline is Friday, December 5. There will be no entry fee.
