The Community Soup Kitchen Regular Hours for the summer are Monday and Thursdays from 11:30AM to 1PM at the Liberty District Bunche Community Center.

There will be a Caverna High School Advisory Council Meeting, tonight at 5:30PM in the high school library.

Far Off Broadway Players will be having open auditions for the 2015 performance of “Frankenstein.”  The auditions will be this Tuesday, August 4 and this Wednesday, August 5 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at 130 B North Race Street. Auditions will be cold read and script provided. Novice and veteran actors alike are encouraged to attend. Casting is for 9 men and three women for the performance to be held October 23 through October 25.

Learn to Western Square Dance at the Park City Lions Club every Tuesday night beginning August 4 from 7PM to 8:30PM. For more information call Donna at 404-2422 or Gina at 670- 670-5092.

The next meeting of the Glasgow Lions Club is set for this Thursday, August 6 at 12PM at Colton's Steakhouse & Grill.  Anyone interested in joining one of the community's oldest service clubs is invited to attend. Also, the club is continually collecting used eyeglasses for reuse. For more information, contact President Bobby Bunnell.

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive this Friday, August 7 from 11AM to 4PM at Wal-Mart in Glasgow.

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive Wednesday, August 12 from 1PM to 6PM at Bowling Community Park in Metcalfe County.

Meet the Scotties Fall sports will be Friday, August 14 at the GHS cafeteria and football field. A meal will be served at 5PM that will consist of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, a dessert, and drinks. There is no charge. Player introductions will take place at 6PM.

The Sulphur Well Homecoming will be held on Sunday, August 15 at the Sulphur Wells Community Park.  Sulphur Well United Methodist Church will have their Sunday services at the park that morning.   A Children’s Pet Show with cash prizes will begin at 1:30pm and the children’s games will begin at 2:30pm.  The 14th annual Liz Jeffries Duck Race will begin at 3pm. The parents of the winning ducks will receive great prizes and there are some adoption tickets available at the Edmonton/Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce, the Edmonton State Bank, Square Office and South Central Bank in Edmonton.  North Metcalfe Volunteer Firefighters will be grilling both Saturday night and Sunday at noon. Branstetter Park Bluegrass Festival will be Saturday, August 22 beginning at 10am and continuing until 5pm. Groups appearing will be Granny and Will, Ronnie and Sandy Pyle and South Bound. Admission is free and Concessions will be available.

The 89th annual Branstetter Park Homecoming will be Sunday, August 23 beginning with a welcome by folk history author Lynwood Montell.  The memorial will be given by Maria Parke and Jackson Romines will sing “The Last Mile of the Way”.   Dennis Crump will give the devotion and Donnie Jessie will bring the message.  Singing in the afternoon by New Direction.

The Barren River Rod & Gun Club Youth and Family Field Day will be Saturday, September 12 at 8AM. There will be many events throughout the day and prizes will be awarded the winners of each event. Food will be available for purchase from the Barren River Rod & Gun club kitchen. For more information

There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Thursday of each month at the Bunch Center beginning at 5:30PM. Volunteers are needed to plan new events for the festival.

Harvest of History 2015 will be September 18 and September 19. Seven individuals from our local history will be portrayed. Historic characters from an inventor, an athlete, an early newspaper owner will be portrayed to celebrate the sesquicentennial of the Glasgow Daily times, a young wife and mother of the 1870’s, a WWI Soldier, an inspirational teacher and a tale of a natural disaster.
