The Glasgow High School Site-Base Decision Making Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday, April 16 at 4PM in the front office.

Bowling Community Park Blood Drive will be this Wednesday, April 16 from 1PM to 6PM in the Edmonton Leftwich Hall. All blood types are needed.

Volunteers are needed to help fill Easter eggs at Caveland Baptist Church, this Wednesday April 16 at 6PM.

Hart of Autism will meet every Thursday at 6:30PM at the Munfordville Baptist Church.  Educators and families interested in information, support and therapy for autism are invited and kids come too.

Car Seat Check up Event will be this Thursday, April 17 from 5PMto 8PM at Goodman Automotive in the lower metal building. For more information call Vickie Poore at 651-8321 or Scot Smith at T J. Pavilion at 659-5535.

Lunch and Learn this Thursday at the T J Health Pavilion Community Center from 12 to 1pm with Dr. William Travis, Director of T J Samson’s Palliative Care and Hospice, Mike Swift, Barren County Coroner, Betty Herbert, Attorney and Brad Asbury, T J Samson Chaplain as part of the National Healthcare Decisions Day.  Bring your own sack lunch and drinks and dessert will be provided.  For more information call 659-5535.

The Barren County Child Support Office will close this Friday at 11:30 in observance of Good Friday.

The Barren County Circuit and District Court Clerk’s Offices will close at 11:30AM this Friday, April 18 for the State Observed Spring Holiday, Good Friday. There will be no Permit or CDL testing Friday afternoon, due to the closure of all State Agencies for the Holiday. We will reopen on Monday, April 21 at 8AM.

The Arts and Crafts Spring Fling will be this Saturday, April 19 from 9AM to 1PM at the Barren County Extension Office Auditorium. There will be a variety of vendor’s available, vendor spot at available for $35 per booth and $10 for 4-H members. For more information call 270-651-3818.

The Cave City Easter Egg Hunt will be this Saturday, April 19 at 2PM at the Cave City Convention Center for ages 2 up to 11. There will be face painting, inflatables, games and music.  Also free pictures with the Easter Bunny.

The Barren County Clerk’s Office will be closed this Saturday, April 19 in observance of Easter, to let employees enjoy the weekend with their families.

The Red Cross Bus will be at the First Baptist Church in Tompkinsville, Monday, April 21 from 12PM to 5PM.  The church is located at 302 N. Magnolia Street.  There is a critical need for all blood types.

There will be an Acrylic Painting class on Monday's and Tuesday's; April 21 thru June 2 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at First Presbyterian Church. The class is for persons age 13 and above. Glasgow Parks and Recreation will begin registration for Daycamp on April 21 at their office on South Liberty, Monday through Friday, 7:30a to 4:40pm. The fee is $40 for first child and $35 for each additional child from the same household.  For more information call 270-651-3811.

The Grateful Hearts Support Group meeting will be Monday, April 21 at 6PM in the Community Center of the TJ Health Pavilion. This month’s topic will be “Let My Plate Guide Me” The guest speaker will be Cherry Molloy, WKU Dietetic Intern. All are welcome to join and reservations are not required.

The Barren County Board of Elections will meet Tuesday, April 22 at 9AM in the county clerk’s office for the regular monthly meeting.  The meeting will continue at approximately 9:45am at the County Road Department for the purpose of testing the automatic tabulation equipment to be used for the May Primary.

There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Friday at the Bunch Center beginning at 6:30PM. Everyone is invited. Anyone interested in being of the Global Fest Committee is encouraged to attend.

There will be a Job Fair Friday, April 25 from 10AM to 3:30PM at the TJ Health Pavilion Community Center. Representatives from various employers, agencies and organizations will be present. There is still limited space for employers who would like to participate. There is no fee for setting up and Internet and electrical service are available & lunch will be provided. Metcalfe County's Head Start Preschool Open Enrollment will be Friday, April 25 from 8AM to 5PM at the Child Development Center. Bring one proof of income and two of the child’s immunization records to the meeting. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 432-7236.

The Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library will have a Senior Computer Class, Friday, April 25 at 1PM. The instructor will be Denise Bowles and the cost will be $5,

Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal, Saturday, April 26 from 10AM to 2PM at the Cave City Police Department.

The Hart of Autism will be hosting a fundraiser, “Straight from the Hart” at the Floral Hall at the Hart County Fairgrounds in Munfordville. Donations of items for the auction, providing a baked item, donating your talent, or a monetary donation will make this fundraiser a great success. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward a retreat weekend at the Center for Courageous Kids, Hart of Autism Day at the Louisville Zoo and Autism Day Camp and much more. The 10th Annual Drive for a Cure will be Saturday, April 26 at 10AM. There will be a Tractor Drive, both antique and modern to benefit Relay for Life in Hart County. The drive will begin in Horse Cave at Bale Warehouse #1 and return back to Horse Cave for lunch provided by Dairy Queen of Munfordville and a live auction. The cost will be $25 per tractor. All proceeds will be donated to American Cancer Society in memory of Silas Crain and in honor of Ricky and Sherry Waddell. For more information call 270-537-4652.

The 6th Annual Shake Your Paw Ball will be Saturday, April 26 at 7:30PM at Glasgow Country Club. There will be live music by The Unpredictable’s and a Silent Auction of works of local artists.

Glasgow First United Methodist Church will hold a blood drive in the Family Center from 1 to 5pm on Monday, April 28. There is a critical need for all blood types.

Dr. Stanley D. Sides of Cape Girardeau, MO will be the speaker at the South Central Kentucky Historical and Genealogical Society meeting on Thursday, April 24th. Dr. Sides, a retired physician practicing hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Sides began studying caves in the Mammoth Cave Region with the Cave Research Foundation in 1962. He is a Fellow of the National Spelelogical Society and has taught Western Kentucky University's Karst Field Studies. He is the author of numerous articles on the history of the exploration of the caves of the Mammoth Cave National Park and the author of "Diamond Caverns - Jewel of Kentucky's Underground." His current research emphasis is on Dr. John Croghan's experiment to treat tuberculosis in Mammoth Cave in the 1840's and the history of cave exploration and cave development in Flint Ridge.  He will be speaking on the "History of Diamond Caverns," which involves the Proctor, Gorin and Underwood Caves and will also discuss the tuberculosis experiment at Mammoth Cave. The meeting begins at 6 pm at the Mary Wood Weldon Library. The public is invited.

The Broadway office of South Central Bank in Glasgow will hold a blood drive in the Community Room from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday, April 29.  There is a critical need for all blood types.

The Barren River Welfare Association will hold their annual bake sale and adoption event on Saturday, May 3 beginning at 8am at the food entrance of the Glasgow Wal-Mart. There will be a great variety of baked goods such as cakes, pies, breads and homemade treats for the four legged family members. Donations of supplies for the shelter will also be accepted. All proceeds from the event will provide much needed funding for the Spay/Neuter Programs, vaccines and medicines for the shelter animals and there will be animals available for viewing and adoption at the event.  For more information call Krissie Coe Fields at 270-670-5170 or the shelter at 651-7297.

The 5th Annual Ely Drugs 5K Run, Walk and Children’s Fun Run Relay for Life Benefit will be Saturday, May 3 at 415 Happy Valley Road. Registration will begin at 7:30AM. The 5K Run will be at 9AM, 5K Walk at 9:05AM and the Children’s Fun Run after the completion of the 5K Run. The cost will be $5 for ages 12 and under and $15 for 5K runners and walkers who pre-register and $10 for ages 12 and under and $25 for runners and walker the day of the event. Caleb Capps Baseball Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk will be Saturday, May 10 at 8AM in Edmonton. All proceeds fund the Caleb Capps Baseball Memorial Scholarship established at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.

The 5th Annual Cruisin’ for a Dream Car Show will be Saturday, May 10 with registration beginning at 9AM to12PM. Registration is $15, which goes directly to benefit the Dream Factory. For more information call 270-646-0259.

The Far Off Broadway Players will present "The Fox on the Fairway" dinner theatre at Cave City Convention Center May 23 and 24. Buffet dinner starts at 6PM and show at 7PM. Call 270-773-3131 for ticket reservations by May 16. $30 ticket price covers buffet meal and the show.
