The 1st Reunion and Celebration of the South Central Kentucky High School Basketball Players, Coaches and Cheerleaders Reunion for those who played, coached or cheered during the years, 1950 through 2000 will begin today with a banquet at Barren County High School for players, coaches and cheerleaders and their guests and this Saturday will be a Fun Day at Beaver Trail Park that will be open to the public and will include food vendors, live music, games and other entertainment. The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center will again present Harvest of History as a fundraiser for the center tonight and this Saturday beginning at 6pm nightly. Tickets are $12 and are available at the Cultural Center. Transportation is provided to the cemetery from the Cultural Center. The historical characters this year are :  U G McFarland portrayed by Jim Nelson, Nan Bishop portrayed by Charlene Wisdom, Dr. William Cundiff  Richards portrayed by Steve Welborn, Fontaine Clark,  portrayed by James Neal, P W Grinstead, portrayed by Jake Dickinson, Lera B. Mitchell, portrayed by Krissie Coe Fields and Doris Barlow Yancey, portrayed by Marilyn Melloan.

Barren County Foster/Adoptive Parent Association will sponsor a pancake breakfast this Saturday at the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ from 7am to 12noon.  All you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy for $6.00. Children ten and under eat for $4.00.  There will also be inflatables, an auction, raffles and more.  Delivery is available by calling 270-670-8872.

Barren County Farm Bureau Federation Annual Membership Meeting will be this Saturday, September 20 at 6:30PM at Barren County Trojan Academy. There will be a dinner catered by Barren County Cattleman's Association with a business meeting and youth contest, also a Measure the Candidates program following the meal. Barren County Farm Bureau Members may pick up their FREE tickets at the Barren County Farm Bureau Offices. Drawings for door prizes will be held at the end of program.

Glasgow Musicale 3rd Annual Best of the Barrens Talent Showcase and Silent Auction will be this Sunday, September 21 at First Christian Church..Silent auction begins at 1:30PM and music program at 2PM.  Admission is free and open to the public. Music program will feature some of our finest area musicians, and Silent Auction will feature goods and services from local business and artisans. Silent Auction proceeds will benefit the Glasgow Musicale's Stephen Foster Music Camp Scholarship for local music students.

The Cave Country College Fair will be at the Glasgow National Guard Armory on Tuesday, September 23 from 5PM to 7PM. Representatives from various colleges, tech schools and branches of the armed services will be onsite to distribute information and answer questions.

A blood drive will be held at Western Kentucky University on Wednesday, September 24 from 1:30 to 5:30pm.   Look for the American Red Cross Bus.  All blood types are needed.

Nancy Baird will be returning to the South Central Kentucky Historical & Genealogical Society meeting on Thursday, September 25 at 6PM to speak on "The Philistines Are Upon Us!"  This takes place in South Central Kentucky during the Civil War particularly seen through the viewpoint of a young teenage girl.  Always a favorite speaker, Baird is an accomplished author and will be introducing her latest book.  The meetings are held at the Mary Wood Weldon Library.  The public is invited.

There will be a Global Fest Meeting every 4th Friday at the Bunch Center beginning at 6:30PM. Everyone is invited. Anyone interested in being of the Global Fest Committee is encouraged to attend.

BCHS Class of 1979 will have their 35th Class Reunion, Saturday, September 27 at 6PM at Barren River Lodge. Call Sheila Pursley Bunch at 576-6262 for further details.

HoofBeats 4-H will host a horse show on Saturday, September 27 at the Cross Country Saddle Club at Haywood beginning at 4pm.

Linwood Days in Hart County will be Saturday, September 27 beginning with ham and biscuits at 6am. Loving Lodge 323 F and AM of Fountain Run will sponsor a Fish Fry on Saturday, September 27 from 2PM to 7PM.  Enjoy a plate of fish, slaw, French fries, hush puppies, dessert and drink for only $5.00. The 29th Annual Roller Coaster Fair will be held October 2 through October 4 going through Cave City, Glasgow, Burkesville, Temple Hill, Mud Lick, Byrdstown, Tennessee and many other communities.

East Barren Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry will be Saturday, October 11 at 4:30PM at Eastern Elementary School. Other activities include a Cruise In/Tractor Show; Entertainment by Colton Kise and the American Red Cross will be on site for anyone that would like to donate blood. Sign in for the Tractor Show is at 2PM and the entry fee is $15 per tractor which includes one free meal per entry. Menu consists of  all you can eat Fish, Hot Dogs, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Hush Puppies, Dessert and a Drink all for $7.00. Kids under 12 eat for $3.

The Boys & Girls Club of Glasgow/Barren County will be closed Monday, October 13 thru Friday, October 17 for staff to attend Midwest Boys & Girls Club of America training opportunities in Cleveland.

Fall Festival for Montessori Academy will be Friday, October 17 from 4PM to 8PM next to Red Cross Elementary. There will be games, face painting, inflatables, hayrides, auction, raffle, food and fun!

Metcalfe County Community Education will offer a Basic Sign Language Class in three classes on October 16, October 23 and October 30 from 5:30 to 6pm at the Metcalfe County Community Education Classroom.  The instructor is Charlotte Roach is the cost is $20.  Pre-Registration is required for all Metcalfe County Community Education Classes by calling Geneva Scroggy at 270-432-0553.

Metcalfe County Community Education will offer a class on the Do’s and Don’ts in Selling on EBay on Monday, September 29 from 6PM to 8PM. The class will be held at the Metcalfe County Board of Education Conference Room. The cost is $10 and the instructor will be David Bastien. There will be Beginning Excel class on Mondays and Thursdays; October 20, 23, 27 and 30 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at Barren County High School. A class in “How to Train Your Dog” will be in the field behind the blue gym in Edmonton in four sessions on Thursday, October 23, October 30, November 6 and November 13 from 4PM to 6PM. Glasgow Parks and Recreation Halloween Fest will be held on Saturday, October 25 from 5 to 7pm in the lower gym on Liberty Street.  Bring a canned good to be donated to Community Relief and be entered into a raffle for door prizes.
