Warren Cunningham Selected to Lead Barren County Trojan Academy

(Glasgow, Ky. 7/16/14) Warren Cunningham, Assistant Principal for Barren County High School, has been selected to serve as Principal for the Barren County Trojan Academy which is the 9th grade center for incoming freshman students.  Mr. Cunningham replaces Amy Allen who took a new position earlier this summer.

Warren is also the head boys basketball coach for BCHS.  Mr. Cunningham began his coaching career in June 2000 by serving as the Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach at Campbellsville University.  From 2001-2008, Warren served as the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Barren County High School, and in May of 2008 was selected as the Head Basketball Coach for the Trojans.  In addition to his new role, Mr. Cunningham will continue his coaching duties.

Warren graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro with a B.S. in Business Education in May of 2000.  In July 2001, he was hired as a Business Education teacher at Barren County High School.  He continued to serve in this role through 2007 and also earned his Master of Arts in Education from WKU in Education Administration in 2005.  Mr. Cunningham was selected in July of 2007 as an Assistant Principal at BCHS where he has remained until the present time.  Warren has also earned a Rank 1 from WKU in DPP certification, and in 2012 he received his Superintendent Certification from WKU.

Mr. Cunningham states, “I am extremely excited to be the new principal at Barren County High School Trojan Academy.  We have a wonderful staff that sincerely cares about our students and works hard to meet their needs.  I look forward to working with our students, staff, parents, and community to help our students make a successful transition to BCHS.”

Barren County High School Principal Steve Riley said, “Over the past 13 years I have had the pleasure of working with Warren Cunningham as a coach, teacher, and administrator.  During this time I have always found him dedicated to meeting  needs of the students by putting them first in his decision making.  I look forward to his leadership advancing our Trojan Academy forward.”

Mr. Cunningham is married to Laura Cunningham who teaches at BCHS.  Warren and Laura have two children; Lily who is 4 years old, and Evan who is 19 months. Mr. Cunningham has already assumed his duties at the Trojan Academy.
