GPD Ammend SOP For Domestic Violence PDF Print

In light of recent allegations of domestic violence by employees of the Glasgow Police Department, the Glasgow City Council approved certain changes to the department’s Standard Operating Procedures Manual, or SOP Manual, that address Domestic Violence.  The goals were laid out in the exhibit to deal with accusations of domestic violence promptly.  Essentially, when a police officer is issued an Emergency Protective Order, that officer is placed on leave with pay and must surrender their firearm.  When a police officer is issued a Domestic Violence Order, the Chief of Police will have the authority to recommend dismissal to the Mayor, who would then bring the recommendation before the City Council.
