Western Kentucky University’s Board of Regents approved an agreement that will allow Graves-Gilbert Clinic to provide health services on campus. Once the agreement is executed by GGC, GGC will proceed with staffing decisions and implementing care teams to meet the health care needs of WKU employees and students.

GGC will begin providing health services at WKU on Aug. 1 in the WKU Health Services building on Normal Drive. Planned hours are 7 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and half days on Friday and Saturday.

The privatization move will save WKU slightly more than $1 million per year in institutional subsidies. Should there be a profit, the contract provides a profit sharing agreement with the first $200,000 of profit going to GGC and the next $100,000 to WKU.

WKU and GGC will share the cost of an appraisal to assess the value of equipment and medical supplies GGC will purchase from WKU.

A health services advisory council will be established to provide WKU and GGC feedback on the quality of care and the meeting of campus expectations.

The contract runs through 2018 with an opportunity for a five-year renewal.
