Farmers RECC held their Annual Meeting on Thursday at the Cave City Convention Center. Local artist Shaylin McGuire provided entertainment. After the presentation of colors by the Barren County JROTC, National Anthem, sung by Ms. Shaylin McGuire, and recognition of local veterans, the business meeting was called to order.

The state of the Cooperative was reported to the membership by Farmers RECC’s President & CEO, Bill Prather, who stated that the Cooperative was financially sound, returning more than $631,000 in capital credits to members in March 2014. Mr. Prather also commented on the continued commitment to safety within the Cooperative as well as an ongoing emphasis on reliability. Mr. Prather mentioned that the reliability work in Right-of-Way trimming as well as pole replacements, new substation construction and improvement as well as construction projects have helped to reduce the average outage time by over 40% since 2011. Mr. Prather also mentioned Farmers RECC’s environmental leadership with the construction of the facilities to begin capturing methane gas from the Glasgow landfill and turning it into electricity. Mr. Prather also highlighted the new LED bulb included in every members’ bucket and encouraged members to use the LED bulb to lower their energy use in their own homes.
