City Employees Awarded Pay Raise in New Proposed Budget PDF Print

Glasgow Mayor, Rhonda Trautman, told the Glasgow City Council Monday evening that the city’s budget is in the best shape it’s been in years.  As a result of that, all full-time employees of the city will receive an $.80/hour pay raise.  All part-time employees will receive a $.25/hour pay increase.  That is, of course, if passed on second reading at the next Glasgow City Council meeting.  Trautman says this is the first significant “across-the-board” raise since 2008 when a 2 percent raise was budgeted.  Trautman says she is not a fan of percentage raises because it widens the gap between those who make more and those who make less.

Trautman says the proposed budget will project fewer expenses than the current year, all while the revenues are projected high for the new fiscal year.  She says the improving economy has made this possible.
