Wreck with Injuries Lecta Salem Road

At approximately 8:36pm on Tuesday evening, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck with injury on Lecta Salem Road. Jonathan Rutledge 29 of Glasgow was backing out of a residence at 308 Lecta Salem Road in a 2008 Dodge pickup and stated that he had been sideways in the roadway. Rutledge stated that as he put the vehicle in gear and stated pulling forward, a1993 Chevrolet driven by Jeffrey Riddle 17 of Allardt TN, struck him in the right side. Riddle stated that he was traveling northbound on Lecta Salem, and when he topped a hill he saw Rutledge’s vehicle sitting crossways in the roadway. He stated that he applied his brakes but could not get stopped to avoid the collision.

Riddle along with a passenger, Jamarccus Mockabee 20 of Glasgow, was transported to TJ Samson Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in the accident. A third passenger in Riddle’s vehicle, Brandy Carey 16 of Glasgow was flown from the scene to Vanderbilt Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. Rutledge was not injured.

Deputy Rodney Sponhouse investigated the accident and was assisted by the East Barren Fire Department and Barren Metcalfe EMS.
