Wheeler Reid Oakes, age 91 of Knob Lick, died Wednesday February 26, 2014, at his home. He was the son of the late James Payton and Dellie Smith Oakes. Mr. Oakes was a World War II veteran and a retired farmer.

He is survived by three sons Reid and wife Carol Oakes of Lancaster, Ronnie and wife Kelly Oakes of Knob Lick, Glen and wife Bernadette Oakes of Knob Lick, daughter in Law Rhonda Oakes of Edmonton, one sister Lizzie Stephens of Edmonton, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Eula Mae Oakes, one son Doug Oakes, two brothers Lee Oakes, Vernon Oakes, four sisters Olive Gray, Ovelia Gray, Orlena Nance, and Iris Polson.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday at the Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the New Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
