Charles William Forrest 78 of Columbia died Friday, January 31 following a long illness. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served a tour in Germany as a truck driver and a cook during the 1950's.  He then worked as a self-employed carpenter throughout the rest of his life and he enjoyed reading his KJV 1611 AV Bible.

He is survived by his companion, Rheeda Foose of Hinton , West Virginia; one son,  Charles "Chuck" Forrest of Milton, Florida; two daughters, Rebecca J. Ballard and husband Nick of Kansas City, Kansas and Diane R. Forrest of Tallahassee, Florida; one step-daughter Connie S. Crews of Hinton, West Virginia; one sister, Rose Mary Shively of Crawfordsville, Indiana; five brothers Eddie Forrest of of Plainfield, Indiana, Danny Forrest and wife Phyllis of Illinois, Dennis Forrest and wife Cora of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Terry Forrest and wife Lana of Jacksonville, Florida, Calvin Forrest of Crawfordsville, Indiana and eight grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Charles William Forrest will be organized by the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade.
