Former educator, Bud Tarry, announced his candidacy for the office of Barren County Judge-Executive last night in the Barren County Fiscal Court Room to a standing-room only crowd.  Bud is a lifelong resident of Barren County, son of Blondell Nicholas Tarry and the late Robert Terry.  He has been married to his wife, Paula for 32 years and they have a daughter, Miranda.  Tarry told the crowd he has entered this race to promote the values, beliefs, quality of life, and ever-changing needs of the residents of Barren County, the County itself, and it’s future.

Tarry spent 41 ½ years as a teacher, coach, Director of Pupil Transportation and Facilities for the Barren County Board of Education.  He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and involved in leadership positions in many community, regional, and state organizations.

Tarry says, economic development and industrial recruitment are a must when it comes to providing jobs.  “We must come together as a team and stop the negative publicity that has cost us a place at the table for these important issues”. Says Tarry.  “We need to work with our local farmers and farmer markets to find alternative ways of increasing their production and income.”

Tarry’s main point of emphasis was restoring the pride in Barren County.
