Matthew C. Dillingham 33, of 744 Dillahay-Dame Loop; Island, Kentucky died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Matthew Clinton Dillingham was born December 18, 1980 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Damon Wayne and Linda Kay Blackburn Dillingham and was married to the former Holly Rae Johnson on September 22, 2007. Matt was a 1999 Graduate of McLean County High School and a Graduate of Western Kentucky University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He was employed at TTMA of Owensboro for 10 years.

Matt and Holly welcomed their first child, Cooper Neal Dillingham on July 9, 2008 and then a daughter, Mattie Rae Dillingham on September 3, 2012. On April 7, 2012 Matthew was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive brain tumor. Matthew was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching and playing sports. He was very active in his church families of Sacramento United Methodist Church and Main Street Church of Christ in Calhoun. He loved spending time with his wife and kids. His yearly trip to Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play was his favorite thing to do with his family. Matthew was preceded in death by a brother, Mark William Dillingham.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 6 ½ years, Holly Dillingham; a son, Cooper Neal Dillingham; a daughter, Mattie Rae Dillingham; his parents, Damon and Linda Dillingham of Sacramento; a brother, Ty Dillingham of Sacramento; his grandparents, George and Joyce Blackburn of Sacramento, Shirley and Bill Kirch of Evansville, and Tom and Shelby Dillingham of Madisonville; father and mother-in-law, Herman and Cindy Johnson of Tompkinsville; a sister-in-law, Hilary Hammer and husband, Barrett of Bowling Green; a brother-in-law, Holden Johnson of Bowling Green; niece and nephew, Caden and Conlee Hammer of Bowling Green; Aunts and uncles, Lonnie and Andrea Knight of Milan, Tennessee, West and Tammy Dillingham of Madisonville, Tom and Rosie Dillingham of Denver, and Marquetta Gibson of Evansville; and a great uncle, Jimmy Blackburn of Sacramento.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Brother Steve Curtis officiating. Friends may visit with Matt's family from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 10:30 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.


The Matthew Clinton Dillingham family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Dillingham Scholarship Fund for his children; C/O First Security Bank; P.O. Box 54; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.


The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Matthew and his family by Baptist Health Hospice. They would also like to thank the community for all their support and prayers over the past 21 months.
