Following a call received by the Franklin Police Department regarding a welfare check at the Wendy’s in Franklin on Friday morning, a series of events ended with a fatal collision on I65 at the 19 mile point.

The Franklin Police Department arrived at the back of the Wendy’s parking lot in Franklin because they had been notified of a vehicle parked in the back lot for over a week.  Upon arrival of the officers, 57 year old Linda C. Moreau of Deming, New Mexico, became uncooperative and declined to provide any identification or to show her hands.  Moreau ignored the officers’ commands and drove off.  Officers with the Franklin Police Department attempted to stop her, however she ramped onto I65 northbound and the officers terminated their pursuit.

Officers with the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement then attempted to stop Moreau, but she once again ignored the emergency equipment and continued north of I65 driving at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner.  She then lost control of her vehicle as she veered off the right shoulder and overturned the vehicle at the 19 mile point.  She was pronounced dead on the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing and is being led by Sergeant Derek Grant who was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police Post 3 Personnel.
