A 5-member legislative panel has been appointed by Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo to delve in further, but the investigation of sexual harrassment charges against Rep. John Arnold of Sturgis has been underway at least a few years.

 

It came out during last month's special session that 2 Legislative Research Commission staffers were making claims of having been subject to inappropriate touches and comments from Arnold for years.  Speaker Stumbo’s legal counsel Pierce Whites explains the house stance on the issue.

Louisville lawyer Thomas Clay represents two of the three women alleged victims and he says the organization that runs the Capitol is only "paying lip service" to the rules it has on the books.

The LRC, which has been investigating the matter since at least early 2011, says it has a specific procedure to address such charges, and is carefully following it.
