BARREN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WARNS OF SCAMS IN OUR AREA PDF Print
Friday, 16 August 2013 06:31

Several scams have recently been reported to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office. It has been reported that two men are traveling in a white Chevrolet pickup truck with freezers in the back. One white male and one black male are going around door to door selling steaks. They are not giving the customer the correct amount of steaks that are being purchased. The truck has been described as a white ½ ton 2 wheel drive with a long wheel base. The truck has white freezers in the back and a “Steakhouse Steaks” sign on the door. The truck also contains a Louisiana license plate. Please contact your local law enforcement agency if you see a vehicle fitting this description.

A second recent scam involves people who have posted items for sale over the internet. Subjects are sending checks in excess of the amount listed for the items purchased and having the person cash the check and then send them the remaining balance back. They are requesting that the seller send them a money order through Western Union, and about a week later the check is found to be counterfeit. If someone sends you a check and asks you to send them a money order back, it is a scam.

If anyone else has any information regarding a scam, please contact the Barren County Sheriff’s Office at 270-651-2771.
