The Glasgow Board of Education kept it short and sweet in their regular monthly meeting last night at their new central office. The meeting began with recognizing a few retiring staff members from the Glasgow School System including; Melissa Bunch, Julie Caldwell, Emilee Dixon, Taryn Durham, Melody Jones, Joe Taylor Mercer, Shannon Pickett, and Jerry Turner.


A new program received some hefty donations to help kick-start it’s success, and that program is Glasgow’s new dropout program at the High School! The G Club donated $13,648.20 to the program, and because Glasgow is one of the first 120 districts to raise their dropout age to 18; they received a $10,000 donation from the Commonwealth of Kentucky during a ceremony in Frankfort last Thursday.


And the hot topic of the night was the decision to adopt tax rates for real estate and tangible property for the 2013-2014 school year. Elaine Richardson told the board what their options were..

The Glasgow board voted to stick with the compensating rate for the 4th year in a row.


The next Glasgow Board Meeting will be September 9th at 6 pm at Glasgow High School. And don’t forget, Glasgow Schools have their first day this Wednesday, August 14th.
