What a weekend of baseball here in south central Kentucky as we welcomed  teams from  across the state to Jackie Browning Park for the 9 and under Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken State Tournament.  The team from Germantown  defeated St. Matthews from Louisville in a close battle 6 to 5 Sunday evening to take the championship title.  The local Barren County team made it all the way to game 7 in the tournament, losing earlier Sunday afternoon to the eventual state champion Germantown 10 to 5.  Hats off to tournament director Charles Kerney and his assistants for a great showing in putting on this event this past weekend that showcased our facilities and our community to folks from around the state.   Germantown will now advance to the Ohio Valley Regionals in Connersville, Indiana.

Other youth league teams have been competing this weekend as well.  We would welcome the opportunity to showcase their efforts as well.  A team representative can contact WCLU at 651-9149 and let us know about your results.
