One soccer coach is looking to start the first soccer academy to serve Barren and its surrounding counties. Laurence Nyekin is the man behind the Bluegrass Academy for Soccer Excellence or (BASE academy).

Nyekin played semi-professionally in his home country of Liberia and later in France at the Toulouse Football Club. He spent years watching the game at different levels in Kentucky, first playing college ball at Lindsey Wilson, then coaching at the Olympic Development level and now as the head coach at Barren County high school.

Nyekin is looking for players to develop right now. And he likes what he’s seen in the Barren County area:

Kentucky soccer is known for quality programs in cities like Lexington and Bowling Green. Nyekin is confident that, with some work, his players with the BASE soccer academy can reach the same level of play.

You can register with the BASE soccer academy by visiting their website at basesocceracademy.com.
