After a low turnout last year, the Arts Guild of the Barrens ramped up their efforts to make sure today’s Garden Gala is a success. The Arts Guild was founded in 2009, just a few years after The Chamber of Commerce revived its Arts Committee.

The Chamber wanted to help showcase the work of local artists. Executive Vice President of the Chamber Ernie Myers says the first exhibition was held within the Chamber itself:

The Arts Guild was birthed from the Chamber’s exhibits and soon began hosting their own events- the largest being their annual Arts in the Garden Gala fundraiser which generates money for their operations.

The Guild has grown large enough to lease a new location this year but despite its positive direction, President of the Guild Ann Stewart still thinks the Guild can improve.

Eager to generate funds to put toward their new location, Stewart and the Guild changed their game plan this year to make a better event.

The Gala will take place at the home of Pat and Daryl Vann and goes from 5PM to 8 PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce or from a Guild member. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Food and drink will be available. And musical entertainment will be provided.
