Sunday, 16 June 2013 20:59

The Glasgow fire department responded to a report of a fire at the city

landfill around 4pm on Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival firefighters found a fire in some

recently dumped garbage. Because of limited access firefighters could only

get to within 250 feet of the fire. Firefighters, with the help of landfill

personnel, were able to contain the fire to the area of origin as a bulldozer

was used to dig out and spread the trash out so firefighters could

extinguish the fire. The exact cause of the fire is unknown. Firefighters

were on the scene around 1 1/2 hours.  Then, Firefighters were called back out a

little after 7am on Sunday morning, when the fire re-ignited. They were on the scene a short

time. There were no injuries reported at either fire.
