ONE ARRESTED, STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED IN 17 MILE HIGH SPEED CHASE SUNDAY PDF Print

On Sunday at 11:12 A.M., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Trooper Wayne Mayfield attempted  to make a traffic stop on a 2005 Dodge Ram pick up truck for speeding while traveling North on US 231.  The operator of the vehicle Matthew Hawkins (23) of Morgantown, KY refused to stop and continued North on US 231.

The pursuit continued on for approximately 17 miles and reached speeds of over 100 mph.  It was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen from Elizabethtown, KY

Matthew Hawkins was apprehended and charged with the following charges:

 

1.      Speed

2.      Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or more

3.      Reckless Driving

4.      Fleeing and Evading Police 1st

5.      Improper Passing

6.      No Operators License

7.      Criminal Mischief 1st Degree

8.      Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree

9.      Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer

 

Matthew Hawkins was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail
