The former owner and former chief operating officer of the now-bankrupt Eastern Livestock Company, LLC was sentenced in U S District Court Tuesday for mail fraud arising from their part in a check-kiting scheme that caused the loss of millions of dollars to hundreds of businesses and individuals.  Thomas P. Gibson 73 of Lanesville, Indiana was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release and 61 year old Michael Steven McDonald also of Lanesville Indiana was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison, followed by two  years of supervised release.   Seizure of 4.7 million from the defendants has preserved a significant portion of the crime proceeds, which will ultimately be distributed to victims of the fraud.

Also in U S District Court this week, a Taylor County man was sentenced to 110 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for violating federal child pornography laws.  50 year old Tony Edwin Davis of Campbellsville plead guilty earlier this year to a 15 count federal grand jury indictment that charged him with production and possession of child pornography where he knowingly enticed and coerced two girls under five  years of age.  The sentence of 110 years in a federa l prison should send a stark message to anyone that would prey upon and harm young children.

There is no parole in the federal system.
