WET ROADWAYS BLAMED FOR A NUMBER OF WEEKEND ACCIDENTS PDF Print

Wet roadways  contributed to a several traffic accidents this weekend.

On Sunday afternoon just after  3:30 P.M., Kentucky State Police responded to a injury collision on I65 in Hart County, Ky.

Lucas Thomas (28) of Cottonwood, TN was traveling south near the 69 mile marker when his 2001 Ford Explorer SUV hydroplaned.  Mr Thomas lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway striking a earth embankment. Mr Thomas's vehicle overturned and then came to rest back on the roadway in the emergency lane on its side.

Mr. Thomas, and his passenger Meredith  Kathryn Thomas (26) were both transported to Caverna Memorial Hospital by Hart County EMS.  Trooper Graham Rutherford is investigating the collision and was assisted on scene by Bonneville Fire and Rescue.

Then,  at 7:10 P.M.,  State Police responded to a single vehicle injury collision on I65 in Edmonson County..

Rod Ellis (47) of Frankfort, KY was traveling North near the 45 mile marker when his 2006 Ford Freestyle SUV hydroplaned.  Mr. Ellis lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway striking a ditch. Mr. Ellis's vehicle came to rest facing east in the ditch on the right side of the roadway.

Mr. Ellis was transported to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY for his injuries. Trooper Rutherford also investigated this collision and he was assisted on scene by Trooper Raymond Chambers, and Park City fire and rescue.

 

1:36 on Sunday afternoon on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway near the 53 Mile Marker.

37-year-old Jamie Luttrell of Bowling Green was traveling east in a 2012 Jeep

Wrangler.  Luttrell attempted to pass an eastbound 1996 Geo Tracker and struck the

Tracker in the rear causing it to travel off of the roadway where it struck a tree.

The Tracker was operated by 55-year-old Perry W. Reeder of Burkesville, KY.  Reeder

was transported by Adair County EMS to the Russell County Hospital for non-life

threatening injuries.  Luttrell was not injured.  Both drivers were wearing

seatbelts.  Trooper Kenny Brown is the investigating officer.

 

A collision that occurred on Saturday, at 3:00 PM CST on US 68, 6 miles west of Edmonton.

42-year-old Bobby Vibbert of Edmonton, was traveling west on US 68 in a 2006

Pontiac.  Vibbert lost control of his vehicle on the wet roads, crossed into the

eastbound lane and collided with an eastbound 1995 Dodge pickup.  Vibbert and a

passenger, 14-year-old Benton Vibbert were both wearing seatbelts and were

transported to TJ Samson Hospital with minor injuries.

 

The Dodge was operated by 64-year-old Billy Coomer of Edmonton.  Coomer and a

passenger, 12-year-old Tyler Coomer, were both wearing seatbelts and were not

injured. Tpr. Jonathan Paull was assisted at the scene by Barren-Metcalfe EMS and

Edmonton-Metcalfe Fire.
