On Tuesday, April 30th, at 7:41 pm Glasgow Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 1297. 47-year-old Charles Goidel of Glasgow left the scene of the initial accident and was found on the side of the road. Goidel fled on foot and was hiding behind a house. Goidel later admitted to driving the vehicle but stated that he did not know that he collided into another vehicle in front of Akebono. Goidel admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the accident. Officers could smell odor of alcoholic beverage on Goidel. Goidel failed field sobriety tests and was transported to TJ Samson Hospital given implied consent warning and then submitted for more tests. Goidel was afterwards taken to the Barren County Jail. His charges are Driving Under the Influence with a Suspended License, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, and Leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance,
