EATON TRIAL DAY 2: LAWYERS MAKING OPENING STATEMENTS PDF Print

In the trial of 3 Barren County Law Enforcement officers now in its 2nd day in Bowling Green today, this morning was spent with lawyers involved in the case making their opening statements.  For the Prosecution, Sanjay Patel, from the Department of Justice spoke first for about 15 minutes, followed by Guthrie True, attorney for Chris Eaton, who spoke about an hour.  Brian Butler, attorney for Eric Guffey spoke for 30 to 40 minutes, and Robert M. Alexander, attorney for Aaron Bennett spoke about 25 minutes.  Throughout the morning Judge Joseph H. McKinley cautioned the jurors that none of the statements made by any lawyers should be considered in their deliberations, that they should only consider the evidence as it is presented.  The trial continues this afternoon.
