The Barren Co. Trojans once again defeated the Scotties in boys tennis, sweeping all

but 2 out of 10 different matches played.  However, the Scotties showed some

definite improvement over their last match against Barren Co., winning more games

and points and providing some stiff competition this time.  In doubles, Barren Co.

#1 court of Jonathan Bunnell and Hayden Rickard, one of the better teams in the

region, defeated Scotties Cody Jones and Ashab Ahmed in a tightly contested match

6-3, 6-3.  On court 2, Trojans River Neal and Grant Gardner won over Glasgow's Sabid

Mir and Adam Garrett 6-3, 6-0.  After a tight first set, Neal and Gardner turned up

the heat and dominated the 2nd set.  On court 3 doubles, Scotties Nick Stone and

Brian Sadler worked hard but Trojans Ethan Kiteck and Brandon Witty surged at the

end and won 8-3.  In singles, the Trojans swept the top 4 courts as Matthew Bunnell

turned away Cody Jones 8-2; Tristan Shaw won the last 3 games of his match with

Ashab Ahmed to win his court 8-5; Grant Gardner held on to defeat Sabid Mir 8-6 in a

well played match as well; and on court 4, Ethan Kiteck overcame Adam Garrett 8-3 in

a match that was much closer than the score indicates.  Brian Sadler finally broke

through for the Scotties in singles play as he defeated Brandon Witty in a close

match, 8-6 and then Dalton Bishop followed suit for the Scotties as he won 8-5 over

Blake Hensley.  Hensley then turned around and played another match against Nick

Stone and this time Blake Hensley prevailed, winning the final court 8-5.  Barren

County, under Coach Trina Rickard, continues to show why they are one of the better

teams in the 4th Region with one of the top singles players and doubles teams in the

area.  Glasgow, under Joe Downing's tutelage, continues to show improvement in this

rebuilding year and is having a fun season developing skills and enjoying the game

of tennis.  Coach Downing said "All I can ask of my kids is that they work to

improve and they are doing just that.  Our future looks bright.  I could not be

prouder of my kids."
