GLASGOW MAN ARRESTED WEDNESDAY AFTER CAR COLLISION PDF Print

On Wednesday, April 17th, Glasgow Police responded to East Main Street and Franklin Street in reference to an injury collision involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, Police made contact with 19-year-old Hunter Pierce of Glasgow, who stated he was traveling east on East Main Street when 33-year-old Ira McDaniel of Hardyville, who was traveling West on East Main, crossed over the center line and struck the driver side of his vehicle. Pierce stated that the impact caused his vehicle to slide off the roadway and into the yard of 502 East Main Street. Pierce refused transportation to TJ Samson hospital.

Police then made contact with Robert Steenbergen who stated he had witnessed the collision. Steenbergen stated he was following directly behind McDaniel before and when the collision occurred. He stated he had seen McDaniel travel off the roadway and onto the sidewalk several times before the collision and went on to say that at one point McDaniel had almost struck a brick wall off the right side of the roadway. He stated that McDaniel then crossed the center line and into the opposing lane of traffic, striking the drivers side of Pierce.Police also made contact with 2 other witnesses who stated that they had seen McDaniel texting or on his cell phone before the collision occurred. Police then spoke with McDaniel, who stated that he did not remember how the collision occurred or where he was coming from before the collision happened.

Police performed Field Sobriety Tests on McDaniel which resulted in his arrest for Operating Motor Vehicle under the influence of Alcohol, Drugs, etc. 2nd offense. McDaniel also refused to be transported by EMS to the hospital, but was driven by police for a blood and urine test. After being released, McDaniel was transported to the Barren County Jail.
