Chester Reed Smith, 77, Dry Fork, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at his residence after a sudden illness. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Byron Chester Smith and Bera Thomerson Smith. He was a life long farmer on the family farm and a faithful member of the Dry Fork Church of Christ.  He was a veteran having served with the U. S. Army, a member of the Austin Tracy Lions Club, and an avid pitch player.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Depp Smith; his son, Walter Reed Smith and his wife, Beverly, of Dry Fork; two grandchildren, Trevor Smith and Bethany Smith; one sister, Virginia Simmons of Glasgow; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Smith of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cyrus Smith, and his brother-in-law, John Simmons.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

 

Today is Gayle Berry Day!!!  Gayle is retiring July 31 from the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center.  A reception is being held today from 1-3.
