ONE INJURED IN MONDAY NIGHT ACCIDENT ON I-65 PDF Print

On April 1, 2013, at approximately 11:13 pm, KSP Post 3 received the report of a vehicle off of the right hand side of the roadway, near the 51.8 mile marker, in the Northbound lanes of I-65. Upon arrival, KSP Troopers discovered that a semi had ran off of the roadway and overturned.

Preliminary investigation shows that William E. Essex (40) of Hillsboro, TN was operating a 2013 Freightliner, owned by K&B Transportation northbound on I-65, when for an unknown reason, he exited the right hand side of the roadway and struck the guardrail face Essex then traveled approximately 80 feet along the guardrail face, then went over the guardrail. The tractor trailer then traveled down an embankment and overturned and continued sliding down the embankment. The tractor trailer came to a final rest on its right side. Essex was transported to the Caverna Memorial Hospital by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, where he was treated for non- life threatening injuries.

Trooper Wesley Medley is investigating this accident and he was assisted on scene by Trooper Timmy Jewell, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Cave City Fire Department, Barren County Emergency Management, Alvey’s Towing, Scotty’s Construction and the KY Highway Department.
