Tpr. Logan Richardson is investigating a collision that occurred

Sunday at 11:25 AM , 2 miles east of Willow Shade on KY 90.  20-year-old Melena

Hughes Capps of Tompkinsville was traveling east on KY 90 when she lost control of her

vehicle in a curve and slid into the path of a westbound 2003 Chevy pickup.  The

pickup was operated by 57-year-old James Spera of New Castle, IN.  Capps was not

wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  She was later pronounced

dead at the scene by the Metcalfe County Coroner.  Spera was wearing a seatbelt but

was transported to Cumberland County Hospital where he was treated and released.

Norris New Funeral Home in Burkesville is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete at this time.
