Mrs. Flossie Melton Williams, age 87, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Saturday Morning, March 2, 2013 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky. She was born on Friday December 25, 1925 in Cumberland County, Kentucky the daughter of Martin Virgil “Mart” and Bessie Wright Melton. She was a homemaker, wonderful wife, loving mother, member of The Burkesville First United Methodist Church, Worked at Oak Ridge Tennessee on the Manhattan Project (The Atom Bomb), A member of the V.F.W. Auxillary, Former owner and Operator of Cottage Fashions, former employee of Lella’s Dress Shop, A member and Staunch supporter of the Republican Party and Republican Womens Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Williams whom she married May 1, 1948 and who passed away January 30, 2006, her Brother, Hall Melton, her sisters, Ernestine Hamilton, Ivaline Guinn and Nellie Rowe, and her Father and Mother-in-law, Luther and Sallie Smith Williams.

She is survived by her Son, Former President of the Kentucky State Senate, Honorable Circuit Judge David L. Williams of Burkesville, Kentucky, her nephews, Keith (and Peggy) Guinn, Weldon (and Marie) Rowe, John Martin (and Joyce) Rowe.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Burkesville First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Burkesville Cemetery. The Family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. Monday at Norris-New Funeral Home, the body will lie in state at The Burkesville First United Methodist Church after 9:00 a.m. Tuedsay until the funeral hour.
