The Glasgow Board of Education met in regular session last night in the Glasgow High School Library. The meeting began with District Grant Writer Ms. Stacy Jessie giving an update of recent grant activity, which was not a small task.


Then, Highland Elementary and South Green Elementary Principals Ms. Sharon Mudd and Mr. Chad Muhlenkamp presented data analysis of state assessment results and their prospective schools Improvement Plans.


As the agenda shifted to the Student Services Actions, a hot topic was the Approval of the BG-4 Project Closeout Forms for the Glasgow High School partial demolition, addition, and renovation project.


Superintendent Sean Howard discussed a contract for independent tutoring services for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. The man is from Western Kentucky University working on his doctorate and would tutor the students in Chemistry.


Student Initiatives Kelly Oliver discussed the revised district staffing plan. This was another hot topic. The Student-Teacher ratio in Glasgow Independent Schools is 13 to 1, which is outstanding. Oliver explains how they get this ratio after some confusion.

Next on the Agenda, the board appointed a hearing officer for the purpose of conducting a public hearing. Randy Wilkinson, Director of Pupil Personnel stepped up, and accepted the position.

The meeting ended with the board going into closed session for preliminary discussions relating to the evaluation of the superintendent. No actions were taken prior to the closed session.
