As part of three separate ordinances, the city of Glasgow annexed property located on Bayles Road, Glen Garry Road, and Carroll Knicely Drive into the corporate city limits of Glasgow on first reading at last night’s Glasgow City Council meeting.  Mayor Rhonda Trautman explains the reason for annexing the property.

The city also passed the first reading of an ordinance that would accept Ashwood Lane and Ashkirk Lane as City Streets.  This issue was brought up several years ago, but the streets needed to meet city specifications in order to be adopted.  According to Councilman Harold Armstrong and Superintendent of Public Works, Kurt Frey, those specifications have been met.

Glasgow Fire Chief Tony Atwood gave his annual report on the fire department.  Atwood was proud to announce his staff had conducted a combined 7,025 hours of training as a department in 2012.  Four new fire fighters were hired in the past year while Atwood says the department looks to hire 3 additional fire fighters in the near future to fill out the force.

Also, Glasgow Police Chief Guy Turcotte gave his annual report last night, noting some 21,859 service calls that had been answered in 2012.  A number, he says, averages about 59 calls per day.  Among several categories of those calls, 409 were in regards to domestic disturbances while the total of meth lab calls totaled 15.
