December 1, 1982 – Barren County Trojans open basketball season Thursday when they meet Metcalfe County.

December 2, 1982 – Funeral services for Glasgow Automotive Dealer H Bruce Goodman, 33, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Glasgow Baptist Church.

December 3, 1982 – AD – GHS announces Adult Education Course “Introduction to Computers”. The instructor is Suzanne Britt and the cost is $30.00.

December 5, 1982 – Horse Cave native Wendell Cherry was presented the B Hudson Milner Award at the Cave City Convention Center.

Dexter Bowles releases his newest print “Saw Bessie”.

December 6, 1982 – Becky Barrick made the front page news when her co-workers posted a sign at Riherd’s Sport Shop “Lordy, Lordy, Becky’s 40”.

December 8, 1982 – DAR Christmas Tea is held at the home of Mrs. Clifton Follis with Mrs. Gene Goode and Mrs. Todd Moore as co-hostesses.

December 9, 1982 – Construction continues on the parking structure in downtown Glasgow.

The new Water Company Building on W. Main Street has been dedicated to Wm T Church, who served the Water Co for 29 years.

December 13, 1982 – Multiple listings will now be available in this area according to local realtors Mrs. Lexie Wyatt, Everett Baker, Doug Isenberg, Willa Taylor, Jerry Botts, Harold Armstrong, Charles Elmore and Tommy Sabens.

The Glaswegian Pops (Glasgow/Barren County Community Orchestra) will present a Holiday Concert Sunday, December 19. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact, Annette Johnson, Joe D Taylor, Ken Weber or Sandi Wooten.

December 14, 1982 – “Wake up Santa Claus” will be presented at Austin Tracy School. Lorie Doolin, Emily Elmore and Ben Rush are three of the cast members.

December 14, 1982 – Dr. Dailey McPeak, Glasgow ophthalmologist, has recently recorded an album “Come Fly with Me”. He has played saxophone for 31 years.

Six month old Taryn Botts visits with Santa at the Barren River Rod and Gun Club Christmas Dinner.

December 15, 1982 – Lee Ann Patterson will give a piano recital Sunday evening, Dec. 19 at the Lera B Mitchell Clubhouse. She is the daughter of Larry and Beverly Patterson and the granddaughter of Charles and Clara Smith of Lucas.

December 16, 1982 – Suzanne Waldrop, Vocational Home Economics teacher at BCHS, is named outstanding teacher of the year for Region II at the American Vocation Convention.

December 17, 1982 – The Barren County Rescue Squad held a bake sale at Wal mart to raise funds to buy Christmas presents for nursing home patients. Wayne Moore, Walmart Mgr, presented a country ham to Helen Frazier, Secretary of the squad and Ernest Boston, Capt of the squad.

December 19, 1982 – Constable George Roach is fined $100 plus costs for the offense of illegal use of blue lights on his constable’s vehicle. Roach’s attorney, Tim Gillenwater was found in contempt of court on two counts, sentenced to 7 days in jail, fined $250 and Judge Benny Dickinson will have his case referred to the ethics committee of the State Bar Association.

Renovation work is well underway on the 3rd floor of the Cardinal Federal Building where three office suites are being prepared for rental.

Winners in the Barren County Vocational School FBLA Type A Thon are Heather Hanson, Sandy Lowe, Kaye Barrick, Norma Glover, Renna Kay Riddle, and Linda Shaw.

Barren River Realty, Inc. and Whitehead Realty will merge into one location effective January 1, 1983.

December 21, 1982 – Petition is filed Monday seeing a local option vote in Glasgow. ( BC Judge Executive Woody Gardner ruled on Dec. 29 that the petition was insufficient)

December 23, 1982 – The Mayfield Plaza Nutrition Program recently honored volunteers who with the program.

December 26, 1982 – The engagement of Terri Lou Royse and Henry Gilbarre Royse II is announced. The wedding will take  place Feb. 12 at the Glasgow Baptist Church.

December 29, 1982 – The Glasgow/Barren County Jaycees  once again were able to donate toys to approximately 50 families during the holiday season. Jaycee President Jimmy Morgan and Administrative VP Mike Gill showed the many toys in a picture in the local newspaper.
