APPARENT MURDER/SUICIDE IN HORSE CAVE AND CAVE CITY PDF Print

On Monday, night at 6:08 P.M., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was contacted regarding a shooting that occurred at 235 Water Street in Horse Cave, Kentucky.  When KSP personnel arrived on scene, Troopers discovered the body of Jamie Tapscott (28) of Horse Cave, Kentucky with an apparent gun shot wound.

 

At 6:25 P.M. Barren County Dispatch was contacted regarding a shooting that had occurred at 544 Bale Avenue in Cave City, Kentucky.  When Troopers arrived on scene they discovered the body of Jason Horton (32) of Cave City, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

 

Preliminary investigation shows that Jason Horton was the suspect in the murder of Jamie Tapscott.   The bodies of the victim and the decedent will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, Kentucky for an autopsy.

 

The investigation is still ongoing is being led by Detective Matt Cardwell.  Detective Cardwell was assisted on both scenes by KSP Post 3 Personnel, Barren and Hart County Coroner’s Office, Hart County Sheriff’s Office and Horse Cave and Cave City Police Department, Cave City and Horse Cave Fire Departments.
