| AREA HIGH SCHOOL BAND STUDENTS TAKE TOP HONORS AT WEEKEND EVENTS |

On Saturday, November 10th, 20 members of the Barren County High School Band traveled to Warren East High School to audition for the 2013 Kentucky Music Educators Association 3rd District 11-12th grade Honor Band. Band members from over 20 high schools in the region were in attendance at this event. Students were required to perform a prepared etude as well as sight read for a panel of judges on their respective instrument. Dr. Kip Crowder and Monica O. Crowder, BCHS Band Directors, are pleased to announce the following results: Amberleigh Slinker – 1st chair Clarinet Rebekah Thompson – 2nd chair Bass Clarinet (also placed 5th chair on Clarinet) Rebekah Lancaster – 2nd chair Alto Saxophone Justus Meek – 1st chair Baritone Saxophone Brett Willis – 1st chair Bassoon Kyle Fox – 4th chair Trumpet Braxton Browning - 7th chair Trumpet Aubrey Tedder – 11th chair Trumpet Kelsi Kerney – 4th chair Euphonium Emilee Christian – 2nd chair Tuba Dylan Montgomery – 5th chair Tuba Jesse Carver – 1st chair Mallets Cameron Read – 2nd chair Snare John McGhee – 2nd chair Auxiliary Percussion Cole Beaudrie – 1st chair Timpani Matthew Ervin – 1st Alternate Percussion Yan Garza – 1st Alternate Mallets Barren County had the most students place in the band. Congratulations to these 17 students!
Also on Saturday Glasgow High School, had 16 students score well in the 11/12th grade All-District Band and First Round All-State Band Results. Those students receiving a recommendation for the 2nd round will be moving on to Elizabethtown in another month to compete against over 1,000 students from across the state of Kentucky for a chance to perform with the best of the best. The Scottie Band will have another round of Auditions this next weekend for students in 7th Grade through 10th Grade. Those results and overall totals will come after the completion of those auditions.
