A Bowling Green man was arrested in Glasgow early Sunday morning for attempting to steal gasoline.

Just before 1am Sunday morning, an officer with the Glasgow Police Department observed a man ducking behind a truck that was for sale across from Shane Drive on Highway 68-80West. When the officer pulled into the parking lot, the man hid behind the truck then ran across the road, jumped over a guardrail, and went into a wooded area, disregarding multiple commands from officers at the scene to exit.

35-year-old Thomas Bowles, of Bowling Green, was apprehended and told officers that he had ran out of gas five miles out of town and was going to siphon gasoline from the truck with a garden hose.

Bowles was arrested on charges of fleeing or evading police—2nd degree and attempted theft. He was transported to the Barren County Correctional Center.
