Ima Gipson Blanton, 90, of Grassland died at 9:43 AM June 28, 2012 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

The Edmonson county native was a retired sales clerk at Lane’s Store and a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Jesse Israel Gipson and Molly Hogan Gipson and the wife of the late Thursby “Thurb” Blanton. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Judy Tennison, Imagean Blanton and Lavern Blanton.

Surviving are two daughters, Clara Vincent of Sweeden and Fonda Miller (Von) of Leitchfield; a son, Lloyd Blanton (Loraine) of Brownsville; a sister, Nora Higgs of Louisville; 12 grandchildren, Hewey Vincent, Truly Hunt, Lou Ann Langdon, James Miller, Jeff Miller, Gail Kelley, Faith Bradshaw, Isaac Miller, Jonathan Blanton, Maria Spainhoward, Timmy Tennison and Julie Miller; 19 great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at New Home General Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Dit Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:30 PM Friday at the church. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
