With heat advisories, burn bans, and temperatures predicted to top out over 100 degrees in the upcoming days, it is important to stay smart about spending time outdoors. Barren County Emergency Services Coordinator Tony Richey has a few reminders about handling the heat this summer…

Richey says those spots include local stores, fire houses, or government centers as places you are welcome to cool off inside if you become overheated. And humans aren’t the only ones needing protection during this hot weather either.

And since a burn ban has been placed on Barren County, Richey also wanted to clear up the protocol for fireworks use during the ban….

Again, while the use of fireworks is still allowed during the burn ban for Barren County, please use extra caution while using them.
