December 1, 1991 – December wedding anniversaries – Archie and Annie Pearl Garrett-45th; Bill & Norma Laichas, Mr. and Mrs. Tolle Chapman, Mr. and Mrs Ernest Boston, 50th; Mr. and Mrs. Royce Alexander and Mr and Mrs James B Pace, 40th; and the 55th anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hume.

December 1, 1991 – GHS Scottie basketball team – Tracy Stockton, Tommy Burris, Channing Twyman, Justin Lohden, Dessi Austin, Marcus Williams, Jonathan Bradshaw, Head Coach Donnie Owens, along with Randy Wilkerson and Mike Harris as assistants.

December 1, 1991 – GHS Lady Scotties Basketball team – Jamie Wheeler, Misty Gray, Iris Sewell, Lesley Wilkinson, Tracy Kessler, Lori Croley, Jennifer Franklin, Claudia Heltsley, Leslie Green, Jennifer Cox and Melanie Cox. Coach Richard Howell and David Johnson.

December 1, 1991 – BCHS Trojan Basketball team – Chad Jones, Brady Button, Tony Combs, Frank Beauchamp, Steven Ragle, Chad Lockhart, Stanton Zackery, Bart Hammer, Scott Chapman, Jerrod Browning, Jeremy Mosby, Jamie Coulter, Reggie Hayden, Brad Bertram, Eric Scarbough, Brad Harvey and Coach Steve Riley.

December 1, 1991 – BCHS Trojanette Basketball team – Brook Hatton, Holly Harlow, Jennifer Siebold, Michelle Wood, Amanda Hogue, Robin King, Danielle Jones, Angela Dossey, Stephanie Lewis, Rebekah Roberts and Bobby Steenbergen, Coach.

December 3, 1991 – Despite nearly 4 inches of rain, which fell over a 24 hour period, little serious flooding was reported in the area.

December 4, 1991 – Former Gov. Bert T Comb’s car was pulled from the rain swollen Red River in Eastern Kentucky. Combs is feared drowned. (His body was found and funeral was in his native Clay County)

December 5, 1991 – Jodie Sweetin is hospitalized with flu and has been replaced as Christmas Parade Grand Marshall by Josh Byrne of Step By Step.

December 5, 1991 – The Barren Co. Unit of the American Cancer Society will sponsor Home Tours of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hunt, Drs. Leticia and Orlando Bravo, Mr. and Mrs. David Hume, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Shelley and Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Steward.

December 8, 1991 – Steven Ragle broke Johnny Jones’ career scoring record of 1,123 points. Ragle lifted his career total to 1,126.

December 11, 1991 – Site development for the new Glasgow Middle School could begin as early as January.

December 12, 1991 – Rev. David Maude is the new minister of the First Presbyterian Church of Glasgow.

December 12, 1991 – Hiseville High School’s 1971 graduating class met for their 20th reunion at Park Mammoth. 23 of 68 class members attended.

December 12, 1991 – BCHS Homecoming Queen candidates are Angie Glass, Angie Wood, Lori Mutter, Jennifer Groce, Jolene Youngster, Angela Dossey, Ginny Steenbergen, Loralee Cole, Casey Wood, Holly Harlow, Jennifer Riley, Ann Riley and Jennifer Siebold. (Jennifer Riley was crowned Queen).

December 13, 1991 – Eva Nell Pogue is Glasgow State Nursing Facility’s Employee of the Year.

December 15, 1991 – Zack’s Furniture opens in Glasgow on S. Broadway next to Sears. Owners Zack and Gail Kender and manager Chuck Riddle.

December 15, 1991 – Bluegrass Cellular has activated its 10th tower in Kentucky closing the gap in coverage between Louisville and Nashville.

December 19, 1991 – Restaurant service will close at the Glasgow Inn effective December 24, according to owners Betty Carol and Bob Clark.

December 22, 1991 – More Wedding Anniversaries – Mr. and Mrs. James Ragle, and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kunce, 25th; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Holcomb, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bowles, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ross Scott, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Stilts, 50th; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCoy celebrating their 65th.

December 22, 1991 – Retirees from TJ Samson Community Hospital are Mattie Huffman, 15 years, Dixon Rapp, 19 years and Opal Miles, 16 years.

December 24, 1991 – On Wed., Christmas Day, 60 family members of Mrs. Bernice Coomer of Griderville will be together to celebrate Christmas for the first time in 13 years. All 10 of Coomer’s children came home to celebrate Christmas the way they did when they were small children.

December 26, 1991 – The 1992 Leadership Class announced their members – Liz Bussey, Nancy Hall Devore, Mona Goodman, Tom Hughes, Sherry Myers, Barry Stephens, Brent Webster, Sam Chambers, Ed Galloway, Carolyn Harp, James Kivian, John Rogers, Grant Sturgeon, Linda Wells, Emily Dale, Ellen Gentry, Mike Hartz, Jerry Lundin, Jane Simmons and Melanie Watson.

December 26, 1991 – Douglas Salmon resigns as Horse Cave Mayor.

December 30, 1991 – BCHS Beta Club attends the 54th annual convention. Brad Barlow was elected Kentucky Beta Vice President.
